You no longer need to wait for an MD referral to see a physical therapist! 

Texas House Bill 4099 (effective 09/01/2025) allows patients to see a physical therapist for up to 30 consecutive calendar days without an MD referral. This expands on the previous limit of 10 business days and aims to improve patient access to care and reduce healthcare costs. After the 30-day period, a referral is required to continue treatment. 

Please note: Traditional Medicare Part B and Medicare Advantage beneficiaries still require a PT referral and signed Physical Therapy Plan of Care from a doctor for coverage.
